After School Club

Streatham Wells Primary School & Children’s Centre

After School Club

Welcome to Streatham Wells After School Club. We aim to provide high quality provision for children at the school who require childcare up until 6.00pm, Monday – Friday. (Please note that at present we can only offer term time.)

The club will be run initially by the staff from the Children’s Centre:

  • Elaine Tate – Children’s Centre & Extended Services Manager
  • Sarah Goldsmith – Early Years Educator
  • Jo Alcide-Edwards -Family Outreach Worker

We will also employ a temporary agency assistant until permanent staff are employed.

Your child/ren will be collected from the school and escorted to the Children’s Centre.  They will be able to access arts and crafts resources, construction, board games, outdoor games, imaginative play and many other activities.  Each day will have a focus activity which will be displayed on the club notice board.

Our aim is for the children to enjoy coming to the club, to access the resources they want to play with and to help tidy up when they have finished with them.  (Please note; children are encouraged but not forced to participate in group activities, e.g. board games).

Around 4.30pm a light tea will be provided, please see the menu displayed on the notice board.  We encourage healthy eating.  Please ensure you have completed the form informing us of any food your child cannot eat.

A typical tea menu:

  • Jacket potato with choice of cheese/tuna or baked beans filling, all served with salad.
  • Yoghurts and biscuits
  • Apples & pears

Children will be encouraged to help prepare tea and to help clear up.

Please ensure your child is collected by a responsible, named adult before 6.00pm.

We value your comments, ideas and support.  There is a comments box in the reception area, we also have a ‘Compliments and Criticisms’ file kept in the office and we regularly ask parents to complete questionnaires about our services.  Should you have a complaint please let us know.  This will be recorded, the staff will then discuss the complaint and decide on any action that we need to take, you will then be informed.  This will be given a date to review.  If you feel unable to discuss the matter with us you may either record your complaint with

a) Rosemary Newlove – Head Teacher, Streatham Wells Primary School or

b) contact OFSTED.

Late Fees

On the rare occasion that you may be delayed it would be very useful if you phone to let us know, we can also reassure your child that someone will be on their way to take them home.

After 6.00pm – £ 10.00 per child

After 6.30pm – £ 25.00 per child

After 7.00pm – £ 15.00 for every ½ hour

Due to our Safeguarding Children Policy two staff must be present while children are being cared for, therefore if a child is left after 6.00pm we have to pay two staff for the extra time.

Our policy after 6.30pm is that staff will attempt to contact you on all phone numbers that you have supplied.  If they are unable to contact a responsible adult who can collect your child then the next step is to contact the Centre Manager who will either a) contact Social Care or b) give permission for the staff to contact Social Care.

Cancellations

Please give a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel a session. Failure to do this will incur full cost of the session.

If your child is off school due to sickness please either

a) ask the school to inform the centre when you phone the school 0208 674 3742 or

b) phone the centre on 0208 674 3227

On the rare occasion that the school has to close unexpectedly, i.e. bad weather, the centre will also be closed and therefore no service available. You will not be charged in these circumstances.
